MAPC: A Big Return for a small investment!

“I really liked that candidate’s philosophy on student accountability in the residence halls.”

“Your creativity is quite evident in the variety of educational programs you’ve conducted.”

“Did you interview with [insert institution’s name here]?  Their professional staff interviewers were really nice and that Residence Life program appears to be growing rapidly.  I’d love to land that job and work with those folks.”

These three phrases are a sampling of what is overheard at the Mid-Atlantic Placement Conference (MAPC).  As one walks through the candidate waiting area, the interview scheduling area, the employer lounge and the lunch buffet line, people are talking about other people.  Employers talk with candidates.  Candidates talk with employers.  That’s what MAPC is all about….connecting people with people!  As the slogan states, MAPC has been "Making successful employment matches in the Mid-Atlantic Region since 1996!”

But MAPC is more than candidates looking for jobs and employers looking to fill staff vacancies.  MAPC is about INVESTMENT! That’s right…it’s an INVESTMENT!  Every candidate invests greatly in the job search process:  purchasing the interview suit, printing resumes, registering for conferences, researching prospective institutions for hours.  And employers are no different: filing mounds of paperwork to conduct a search; mailing job postings; sending e-mail vacancy announcements; scheduling phone and campus interviews.  For both parties, the job placement process can be stressful, expensive and exhausting.  And that’s where MAPC helps!

Choosing MAPC can help decrease the stress of delayed flights and unexpected layovers, help avoid the expense of registration fees for national job placement conferences (often double or triple the cost) and help avoid the exhaustion of walking the length of a football field across a hard concrete floor just to check your employer or candidate mailbox.  Register for MAPC…you’ll be amazed at the BIG return for such a SMALL investment!

Why MAPC?
The Mid-Atlantic Placement Conference began in 1996 and serves as a regional placement conference organized by the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO). The format is similar to The Placement Exchange and ACPA Career Central. It offers an intimate setting and a cost effective search for both candidates and employers.
• Meet potential employers and candidates without traveling too far
• Interview regional candidates at MAPC and increase available interview spaces at the national conference(s).
• Low prices for those on a small budget.
• A more intimate setting to meet candidates then the large convention halls.
• MAPC is held before other conferences allowing you to meet candidates first.
• MAPC has been making successful matches since 1996!
