You See a Single Large Crack Keeps Getting Bigger
Another clear sign that it’s time to look into windshield replacement is that a single large crack keeps expanding over time. Some cracks, especially small ones, can remain stable for years. If you’re seeing the crack getting progressively larger, though, it’s only a matter of time until the windshield breaks completely. The longer you wait, the higher the chances are of the windshield giving out.
There’s Water Coming in Around the Windshield
If you’re seeing water coming in around the windshield when it rains, it’s time to get your windshield looked at. In this case, the glass itself may not need to be replaced. The gasket around it, though, will need to be changed. There’s a Hazy White Material Along the Edges of Your Windshield
One of the least known signs of windshield damage is a hazy material around the periphery of the glass. This haze is caused by plastic sealant separating from the glass and could indicate damage around the edges of the windshield. This phenomenon is most common after a car has been in an accident, but you might also see it after hitting a severe pothole or other obstacle in the road. If you do see this haze, be sure to have your windshield checked out as soon as possible.
